A daily trip to school and back for students in Uhana Amparai is not the same joyful experience most of us encounter in our lives – The distance to travel, lack of proper transportation, and lack of facilities nearby make it a tribulation for many. We have identified 8 bright kids whose daily routine will be less painful with the aid of a bike.
Located about 30 KM south of Batticaloa is the rustic town of Vellavaly. Although the road network has been upgraded recently, people here walk many kilometres to meet their daily needs, such as schools, hospitals, shops and the government offices. Our team at give2lanka has identified 10 kids whose life can be improved with a bicycle
All these families are living without sustainable livelihoods. In both the areas, kids start their journeys to school before the sun rises, as early as 5.30 am. The parents have to accompany the children to keep them safe. Elephants are also seen roaming in and around the area.
AT A COST OF RS 15,000 PER BIKE WE WILL DONATE 18 BIKES WORTH OF RS 250,000.
